Jacki O’Hara : Director
Jacki started her career in the hospitality industry in the 1980's, with nightclub and then bar management, including handling the opening of The Aberdeen. Jacki moved to Singapore in the 1990's and began an international career consulting to the Hilton and Sheraton chains launching and managing concept F&B outlets in Seoul- Sth. Korea, Bangkok – Thailand, Singapore and Cairo - Egypt.

On returning to Perth in 2000, Jacki commenced venue management at Conrads Subiaco and then began her consultancy hospitality business working with the Cottesloe Beach Hotel, Kalamunda Hotel amongst others. Jacki has for many years been an AHA Trainer in Liquor Licensing and the Responsible Service of Alcohol certification.

Opening The Publican Bar & Cafe with her husband Darren is the culmination of years of industry development and training.



Darren Barby : Director
Darren is one of life's classic Aussie gents. With a career within the building and resources sector, Darren has a vast experience in critiquing the restaurant and hotel industry.

As an advocate of fine wines, excellent dining and simply enjoying life, Darren brings colour and vibrancy that keeps The Publican patrons smiling.

The team at The Publican are passionate about service. They work hard and love doing that little something extra for every customer. Whether it is a familiar smile, a knowing nod about your favourite drink or sharing with you the latest taste temptation from The Publicans food or beverage menu, you will feel welcome. The core chefs, waiters and managers have worked around the globe and with each other for some time. They are a critical part of the comforting spaces within The Publican.
